Conspiracy Case: Introduction

As Peoples Temple grew in popularity and became more visible in the activist and political scene in San Francisco, detractors and defectors became more of a concern for Jones and the leadership. In some cases, it seems like their suspicion was well-founded, in others, the leaders appeared to become increasingly paranoid, seeing conspiracies in minor, coincidental occurrences.

Around the time that Jones left the United States for Guyana, some members of Peoples Temple began to collect information for a conspiracy case. Eventually, they would begin to write about this case. The manuscript for their case for a government conspiracy against Peoples Temple was found among the many papers in Jonestown. Since this is the first time this document has been transcribed, it is presented here with transcript and annotation, a link to the PDF from the RYMUR case is also provided.
