Family Profile: The Beam Family

Jack Beam

key: Square indicates male, circle indicates female, circle with ring indicates adopted daughter

The Beam Family was an integral part of the early rise of the Peoples Temple. Jack Beam, his wife and two daughters (Eleanor and Joyce) traveled with Jim Jones’ family to Brazil and Jack was a member of the planning commission. The planning commission was the most elite inner circle within the church’s hierarchy.

Deanna Wilkinson was the Beam family’s adopted daughter. Similar to most of the families in Jonestown, Jack and Rheavania lived in cabins separate from their children. Additionally, all their children lived in separate cabins from one another.
