Many members of Peoples Temple believed that they were the object of a government conspiracy intended to destroy the Temple and its leadership. The leaders investigated this conspiracy, found evidence that they interpreted as definitive proof of a concerted attempt to undermine the Temple, and began to create a case to argue that this conspiracy was a reality.
Jones often spoke of the forces arrayed against the Temple, but some of the other leaders wrote about the evidence they had collected. The document transcribed and annotated here is one of the most complete attempts to collected and explain the evidence that Peoples Temple thought was the most compelling case that the U.S. government had allied with their enemies and was attempting to destroy them.
