In May 1978, Edith Roller was at the Jonestown compound in Guyana and experienced much of the important events including visits from dignitaries, the crisis of defections, and the daily struggle to maintain the Peoples Temple’s view of socialism as the community struggled to produce enough food. Edith struggles with a fungus at the end of the month, while Jim Jones struggled against the external pressures of the Concerned Relatives and increased pressures from the American government.
